Oh, Canada!

Writer's picture: KayKay

Adagio entered Canada just south of the St. Lawrence Seaway at Kingston, Ontario. First settled by the French in the early 1600's, Kingston was later captured by the British in 1758. After the War of 1812, the British were afraid the Americans would invade Kingston, so they built several forts to protect the city that are open to visitors today.

We spent a day touring Kingston, then began our journey westward across Canada to Lake Michigan. The journey will take five weeks, with the first two weeks taking us through the 45 locks of the Trent Severn Waterway which connect Lake Ontario to Lake Huron. The remaining three weeks will carry us across the northern part of Lake Huron through a remote area called Georgian Bay. Look for updates along the way in future posts.
